In this coaching lesson AJ Hoge reminds us that in each lesson set in the Advanced Conversation Club members actually get several types of lessons including the conversation, the commentary and the coaching lesson.
In the coaching lesson he’s gonna help us to put some interesting ideas into action. The goals of the coaching lessons to give us some very useful information, to help us learn vocabulary and grammar and pronunciation and improve our English, and also to make some changes in our life.
In this lesson AJ tells us about one of his health heroes, Jack LaLanne, because he’s an amazing man. At the age of 95 he’s still full of energy and enthusiastic. He wrote his new book and he exercises three hours every single day.
Then AJ tells gives us his own definitions of health and fitness and explains us the difference between them. Health means that you have a nice high level of energy most of the time and you’re basically disease- free. Fitness is something more external like lifting heavy weights or running fast. However it’s not the same. Many athletes when they retire from their sport they have incredible health problems.
Next, AJ says that energy is the starting point for everything, for any change in our own lives or in someone else’s life.
There are at least two ways to develop this internal energy – to eat healthy nutritious food and to move our body. Unfortunately, most of us all day sit on our ass or stand and eat processed junk food.
Starting today going forward AJ wants us to go for a nice easy stroll one hour every day to get more energy into our body and at the same time we can listen to our English lessons to feed our mind. This way we learn faster and better because when we move our body our heart pumps more and our brain gets more blood.
The other thing he wants us to do is to eat a fresh green salad before every meal. To make it we get spinach, kale, and other green leafy vegetables and add in a few carrots, cucumbers, avocados, whatever.
He guarantees just by doing these two small things we’re going to start feeling more energy and health in our life. We’ll get momentum and the changes will come more easily and quickly.
