Shopping Покупки
To do the shopping (to buy things for everyday life, usually food, personal care items and things for the house) Делать обычные покупки ( покупать продукты, средства личной гигиены и товары для дома)
To go shopping (to buy things for everyday life or “extra” things like clothes, toys, electronics etc.) Делать обычные покупки плюс покупать одежду, игрушки, электротовары и т.д. (более широкое понятие)
To window shop (to look at many items in various shops without planning to buy anything) Бродить по магазинам, рассматривая вещи и не планируя их купить
To shop around (to go to many different stores to compare the prices and items to get the best) Обходить разные магазины, сравнивая ассортимент, цены, качество и т.д. с целью найти для себя самый подходящий вариант.
A shopping spree (to buy a lot of things and to spend a lot of money in a short time) Покупка большого количества вещей за короткое время, потратив кучу денег

Have you ever returned something to a store? Did you exchange it or get a refund? I’ve returned shoes to a shoe store many times. Every time I try shoes on in a store, I feel comfortable. However, in many cases when I went out in my new shoes they hurt me so much that I understood that feeling wouldn’t stop even with time. So, in a day or two I returned the purchase to the store. If I found something that fit I exchanged them. If not, I asked the store to give me a refund.
