What did she once tell her mother-in-law not to worry about? She told her not to worry about the laundry.
What explanation did she give? She explained to her mother-in-law that she wasn’t done sorting the clothes yet/ She explained to her mother-in-law that she hadn’t sorted the clothes yet.
How did her mother-in-law respond to her explanation? She took it upon herself to do the laundry anyway.
How does the young woman characterize her mother-in-law’s personality? She described her as a strong-willed woman.
What additional problems do she and her husband have with his mother apart from the laundry? Another problem they have with his mother relates to her not respecting their parenting.
Why is it difficult for the young parents to explain their wishes and preferences to the old woman? It’s hard for them to tell her about their preferences because she often takes things the wrong way.
Why are they afraid to tell the woman that her help is not needed anymore? They can’t tell their mother that they don’t need her help around the house because they’re afraid to offend her/to hurt her feelings.
